The Austrian sporting goods retail chain Hervis will benefit from a state-of-the-art central distribution center in Fischamend, Lower Austria. Developed as part of parent company Spar Austria’s logistics expansion strategy, the facility is set to significantly improve the efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of Hervis’ supply chain.
The new center, located in the Ayka Helios Vienna Logistics Park near the Vienna International Airport, will have 20,000 pallet spaces to support Hervis’ growing network. The center is expected to be fully operational by fall 2025 and will employ 150 new staff, reflecting Hervis’ commitment to growth and innovation in the retail sector.
“Optimized logistics processes are the key to sustainable business success,” commented Marcus Wild, member of the Management Board of Spar, on the strategic importance of the project. ”With this new distribution center, Hervis is setting standards in terms of efficiency and quality to ensure that customers receive the best products in a timely manner.”
The centralized hub marks a shift for Hervis, enabling faster and more accurate store deliveries. The initiative aligns with Spar’s overarching goal of professionalizing logistics operations across all of its subsidiaries.
Hervis operates nearly 90 stores in Austria and over 100 international doors in Central Europe. It employs approximately 2,800 people. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Spar Österreichische Warenhandels-AG.
