Dormy, the fast-growing Swedish golf retailer, has acquired Stadium Golf, the flagship golf store of Sweden’s leading sports retailer, and transformed it into an outlet store of 900 square meters between Gothenburg and Malmö. Stadium Golf was formerly known as Edins, a huge golf retailer acquired by Stadium a few years ago to build up its golf business. However, Stadium decided not to duplicate Stadium Golf, which was making losses, and to focus on golf sales in its existing sports stores instead. Rikard Blomstrand, the strategic manager who had been hired to develop Stadium’s golf business, left the company last November. Meanwhile, the acquisition of the former Edins reinforces the network of Dormy, which has doubled the number of its stores to six. It bought Stadium Golf in May and reopened it as Dormy Outlet at the end of last month. A detailed analysis of Swedish golf retailing will be included in our report on the Swedish golf apparel and footwear market in September.
