Ecco has been named the official footwear supplier to the 2013 European Solheim Cup team. The Danish footwear brand will create special-edition shoes exclusively for the players and captains. For this edition of the women's golf tournament, the fourth during which Ecco has supported Team Europe, the company will also provide shoes to the defending champions' caddies and team staff. The Solheim Cup will take place at the Colorado Golf Club outside Denver on Aug. 13-18. A biennial team match-play competition, the Solheim Cup features the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET). It is named after Karsten Solheim, the Norwegian-born American golf club designer and businessman who was a driving force behind its creation. Ecco golf shoes are worn in competition by LPGA and LET Tour stars such as Gerina Piller, Caroline Masson, Belén Mozo and Line Vedel Hansen.
