Eduardo Indo, editor of OKDiario, claims that Nike has tabled an offer worth €120 million per year to take over the sponsorship of Real Madrid, according to several media reports. The Spanish club has been outfitted by Adidas since 1998. Neither party has confirmed such an exorbitant offer, but there has undeniably been a realignment of endorsement deals for the largest European clubs since Manchester United, a listed company, had to report that it bagged a deal worth £750 million (€875.3m-$978.3m) for ten years with Adidas. This apparently precipitated a much increased deal between Nike and Barcelona, among others. An agreement at €120 million per year would be way above the annual sum of €40 to €45 million that has previously been speculated for the Adidas deal with Real Madrid. Indo made his claim about Nike's offer on a TV show, El Chiringuito de Jugones, but some other sources have raised doubts about it, because Real Madrid's current deal with Adidas runs to until 2020.
