Effective Feb. 1, Andreas Rauter will return to the European operations of Burton based in Innsbruck, Austria, to become senior director of sales. Between 1993 and 2003, Rauter served the snowboard company in various marketing and sales positions before he switched to the headquarters of Salewa in Bolzano, Italy. At the outdoor company, he worked as export manager and most recently as group export director of Salewa International. A successor will be named later this year. On an interim basis, Rauter's work will be shared by Massimo Baratto, chief executive of Salewa International, and Moritz Räuber, currently export manager in the same company. In his new role with Burton, Rauter will report to Hermann Kapferer, general manager of Burton Europe. Rauter's predecessor, Olav Nietzer, has switched to Black Diamond Europe in a similar position.
