Eiliv Furuli, former sales manager of Fjällräven, has been recruited to head up a new Norwegian subsidiary of Lundhags, the Swedish company specializing in outdoor ice skates, boots and apparel. Formerly sold in Norway by Nordic Outdoor, Lundhags is opening its own sales office in Lillehammer. This after an increase in the company’s total sales of nearly 40 percent last year. The expansion took place in Sweden and elsewhere, and the trend is equally promising. While much of its growth in the last years had been driven by apparel, Lundhags has benefited from the cold weather in the sale of its skates this winter. The brand enjoys outstanding recognition in this market and it won the Ispo award in the hardware category for its latest model, Exa, which has blades made of a single piece of stainless steel. Lundhags closed down its skate production unit in Järpen a few years ago, but the skates are still made in Sweden.
