El Corte Inglés, a group that is one of the major retailers for sporting goods in Spain through its department stores, has reported a 34 percent increase in net profits to €158 million for the financial year ended last Feb. 29. Revenues went up by 4.3 percent to €15.2 billion. Operating earnings before amortization rose by 10.4 percent to €913 million. The company, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, is budgeting growth of 2.9 percent for this year.
