Erick Haskell, the former chief operating officer of Adidas China, took over from Claus Heckerott as group managing director in India this week. The Canadian manager has been leading restructuring moves at the Adidas Group in India since last April, after it uncovered alleged irregularities at Reebok India (which are still under investigation by several Indian authorities) and went about costly restructuring measures. Heckerott, who was previously vice president of finance for the global operations of the Adidas group, is expected to stay in India until the company finds another assignment for him. Haskell has been with Adidas in China since 2007 and the group pointed to the American manager's experience in emerging markets as a strong asset for his Indian job. He previously held senior positions with Kmart Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank and Deloitte Consulting. Haskell will report to Roland Auschel, the Adidas group's chief sales officer. The company is preparing sales meetings in India this month with Reebok franchisees who have agreed to switch to a standard purchasing model. About two thirds of the Reebok franchisees have agreed to do so.
