Esprit has signed a distribution contract for the Middle East and North Africa with the Al-Futtaim Group, and it is evaluating new options for the Indian market, where it has agreed not to extend its current distribution agreement with Madura Fashion & Lifestyle. Al-Futtaim will take over the existing 35-plus Esprit stores operated in the Middle East and North Africa by the Gulf Cooperation Council, with a project to double their number in the next few years. Al-Futtaim is a big and diversified retail group, based in Dubai. It is, among other roles, the master licensee of Intersport International Corporation in the region. In India, Esprit has 25 standalone stores and 39 shop-in-shops.
