Etnies, the specialist in shoes for skateboarders, and Michelin have announced a partnership to reinvent Etnies' classic Marana shoe. Using its Outdoor tyre rubber as a starting point, Michelin has designed an abrasion and slip resistant sole specifically for Etnies' Marana OG shoe, an update of the brand's best-known design. According to Etnies, the result is an innovative skate shoe. Increasing the durability of the rubber used in skate shoes normally tends to reduce its grip and flexibility while Michelin, said Etnies, has managed to create an extremely durable sole without losing other performance features. The new sole is supposed to last four times longer than the one used in previous Marana models. Michelin has already created soles for other sportswear makers including Under Armour, Salewa and Aku.
