The European Commission’s anti-trust authorities are no longer expected to complete their Phase Two review of Google’s proposed acquisition of Fitbit by the end of this year, as previously reported. According to CTFN, the American information service on mergers & acquisitions, it will rule on the issue on Jan. 8 at the earliest, and the U.S. Justice Department is reportedly waiting to hear what the European Union has to say before taking a stance. Fitbit had noted in its most recent financial report that the Covid-19 pandemic had slowed down the Commission’s work.
