Euretco, the Dutch buying group, placed Steve Evers in charge of the Sport 2000 and Runnersworld banners in the Netherlands from the start of February. This comes after a reorganization that split buying from retail functions at Euretco Sport last year. Marius Rovers, who had previously been in charge of Euretco Sport as a whole, became the buying manager for the same unit, while Jan Huisman supervised the retail business and temporarily managed the Sport 2000 banner, which makes up the bulk of Euretco Sport’s business. Evers will take over the supervision of Sport 2000 and Runnersworld along with two other Euretco banners in the decoration business, Decorette and Lampenier. Furthermore, Evers is joining the group’s management board. Sport Partner, the Dutch sports industry newsletter, reports that Evers has a long track record in Dutch retailing, at companies such as V&D department stores, Kijkshop and Soap International. He also spent several years in South America with Hagemeyer, a large Dutch trading company.
