Ironman has announced that Ironman 70.3 racing will take place at a new location in China in 2026, with the Ironman 70.3 Hengqin triathlon joining the global middle distance triathlon series.

The event will take place on the southern Chinese island of Hengqin, within easy reach of such major centers as Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Athletes will complete the standard middle-distance format: a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run.

The swim begins with a rolling start from the beach opposite the southwest side of Tianmu Qintai. The bike course consists of two laps around the Hengqin Cultural and Arts Centre, covering 90km with 238m of elevation gain. The run segment is a flat, looped course with 117m of elevation gain.

Scenic location

The race showcases the natural assets and cultural heritage of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, offering participants a chance to explore scenery that blends the city skyline, mountains and the sea.
