The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles have severely affected the region’s landscape but none of the venues for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been damaged so far, CBS News reports. According to Paul Kerkorian, Executive Director of the city’s new Office of Major Events, “there is no reason to believe that the fires will adversely impact or delay preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which are already well underway.”

Meanwhile, questions remain about the impact of reconstruction on the scheduled sporting events. While no venues have been damaged, the city will have to rebuild itself, preferably ahead of those events. However, it is premature to assess the full scope of the damage as some major blazes are still burning while new wildfires are breaking out at the time of writing.
