The mystery about the recent departure of the former head of the successful Yeezy business unit at Adidas is solved. Shopify has just announced that Jon Wexler will be joining the global, Canadian-based e-commerce company on Sept. 14 as vice president of its creator and influencer program. As he did at Adidas, he will be tasked with expanding Shopify’s partnerships with artists and other creators and influencers, “enabling scalable entrepreneurship for a whole new set of small businesses.” Wexler told Complex that he had been in contact with Shopify since 2017. Superstars like Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Beyonce, who worked with Wexler at Adidas, are already on Shopify, which started more than a decade ago as a website for the sale of snowboards. Its marketplace now works with more than one million small and large businesses in more than 175 countries including Gymshark, which has grown to reach a valuation of £1 billion, as well as Allbirds, PepsiCo and Staples.
