Wolverine Worldwide has hired Barry McGeough to be its first vice president of advanced concepts and innovation, with a purview extending to all 12 of the company’s brands. He will be seeking out new technologies, materials and other advancements – 5G, augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), etc. – for both product development and digitalization, whether in-store or online. He will be reporting to Wolverine’s chief merchant officer, Angelo Ng. McGeough has an impressive CV. He most recently spent a year as director of strategic partnerships at Google Advanced Technology & Projects. Before that he spent seven years as a vice president at PVH Corp., handling such brands as Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger; three years as global head of footwear and equipment at Pentland; about three years as vice president of product and merchandising at The North Face; and about nine months as senior product director at Deckers Outdoor.
