Executives from Peak Sport Products, the Chinese sports apparel and footwear brand, were in Ljubljana earlier this month to present the official outfits to be worn by Slovenian athletes competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Xu Jingnan, the company's chairman, made the trip to the Slovenian capital as well as Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Borut Pahor, Slovenia's president. Peak Sport produced 27 items, mostly Olympic uniforms and formal wear to be worn when (potentially) receiving Olympic medals, and shoes. Pahor agreed to wear one of the outfits provided by Peak to run 400 meters along with Bach and 200 other runners. Peak Sport will be providing outfits for ten Olympic teams this year, compared with seven four years ago. Along with Slovenia, they are Cyprus, the Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria and New Zealand. Peak's chairman said that the company may sign up more in the run-up to the Olympics. Peak has been investing strongly in international exposure in the recent years. About 21.6 percent of the group's turnover of 3,107.5 million yuan renminbi (€423.1m-$478.7m) last year came from sales outside of the Chinese market.
