Sportswear sales in the U.K. are expected to reach £6 billion (€8,259m-$9,025m) by the end of the year according to Key Note, a British online resource offering market and industry reports, and the anticipated growth will be driven by sales of female apparel, which rose by 11 percent in volume sales in 2014, pushing up by 9.5 percent the value of the sportswear market in the country to £5.9 billion (€8,119m-$8,874m).
British women seem to be increasingly interested in sport, and Sport England itself has helped this process through a prominent marketing campaign named This Girl Can. Other campaigns in the country that have helped the development of women's sport have included Intersport's Expert Advice For Tough Mothers and England Rugby's Pitch up and Play. The sporting successes of British female athletes, such as Victoria Pendleton and Jessica Ennis-Hill, have also played a part in the process.
