Fenix Outdoor, the Swedish group that markets the brands Fjällräven, Primus, Tierra and Hanwag, increased its sales by 14 percent to 451 million Swedish kronor (€46.7m-$68.5m) in the first six months of 2008. The operating profit was up by 21 percent and reached SEK 58 million (€6.0m-$8.8m). The group’s result before tax increased by 22 percent to SEK 56.4 million (€5.8m-$8.6m) while the earnings after tax were up by 29 percent at SEK 38.9 million (€4.0m-$5.9m). Wholesale operations grew by 15 percent, driven by Hanwag, which has appointed a Bulgarian distributor (more in the OUTDOOR INDUSTRY COMPASS).
