According to UEFA’s latest report, top-tier clubs participating in UEFA competitions have achieved unprecedented revenue levels in the 2021/22 fiscal year. The European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report disclosed that these clubs collectively generated approximately €23.9 billion in revenue during this period, marking a historic high.
The staggering figure reflects a substantial increase from a decade earlier, in 2013, when revenue stood at €15 billion. The report underscores the rapid commercial growth of European football, with commercial revenue surging by 56 percent since 2013 to reach €7.7 billion in the 2021/22 fiscal year.
The soaring value of football media rights has been a significant driver behind this growth, with TV-rights revenue skyrocketing from €4.6 billion in 2013 to €8 billion in 2022, representing a 75 percent increase. However, this figure represents a slight dip from the €9 billion recorded in 2021, indicating ongoing opportunities for further growth in the industry.
