Five European companies are teaming up in the Wear2Wear program, an industrial partnership working toward the manufacture of 100 percent recycled, recyclable and PFC-free functional textiles. The five companies involved in the program represent each phase of the recycling process, and include Heinrich Glaeser Nachfolger, Märkische Faser, Schoeller Textil, Sympatex Technologies, and DutchSpirit. Heinrich Glaeser Nachfolger, based in Germany, is a fiber and yarn producer. Märkische Faser, also based in Germany, is an “upcycler” and fiber manufacturer. Schoeller Textil is a Swiss manufacturer of sustainable, high-tech fabrics. Sympatex Technologies, headquartered in Münich and present in more than 20 countries, is a supplier of high-tech functional materials in clothing, footwear, accessories, protective workwear and technical applications. Finally, DutchSpirit is a Dutch company dedicated to environment-friendly clothing. All Wear2Wear partner companies guarantee that functional fabrics are 100 percent recyclable, made of recycled textile fibers, from the quality of the raw materials to the guaranteed recycling end process. These companies claim the water- and dirt-repelling technologies they use will ensure the textiles are developed and manufactured entirely without the use of PFC.
