Following the cancellation of the New York Marathon, Asics America said it would donate to the American Red Cross 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of its apparel and accessories for the race made at the ING NYC Marathon Expo on the eve of the event. Two days before the annual race was due to take place, officials decided to call it off because of the recovery efforts related to Hurricane Sandy. Asics America said that the race absorbed one-tenth of its marketing budget.
