Following the retirement of Klaus-Jürgen Caspar as managing director of Sport Voswinkel after 10 years in the post, Intersport Germany has restructured the leadership of this wholly owned chain, placing it under dual management. The group has brought back on board Jochen Schnell, who ran Voswinkel between 1998 and 2008. Since then he has served as managing director of Christ, a leading German jewelry retail chain. Effective June 1, he will join Matthias Bärtels, who has also been hired by Voswinkel. Bärtels, 48, who has worked for Karstadt Sport and SportScheck, was most recently involved in the business of Palmers, an Austrian retailer of lingerie. Schnell will be responsible for finance, IT, organization, logistics, expansion and personnel. Bärtels will take care of purchasing, marketing and sales. Voswinkel will open its 63rd store in Cologne later this month.
