For its spring/summer 2019 collection, Ecco Golf has released its lightest golf shoe ever: the S-Lite hybrid. Ecco has produced a sole that is 66 percent thinner than any model that has been previously paired with a TPU outsole. The extra thinness will not affect its grip, however, thanks to 100 traction studs. The technological advance is due to the company's multi-injection Fluidform technique, a “state change” process through which fluid materials form around an anatomical last, with no need for stitching or glue. Yak leather keeps the S-Lite hybrid water-repellent. A diamond-shaped embossing on the upper increases breathability, a footbed made of soft leather provides cushioning and handles moisture, and a molded leather heel counter and a toe reinforcement ensure stability. This year, the S-Lite won a Red Dot Award, having competed against some 5,500 products from 55 countries. The retail price in the U.K. is £160 (€185-$209) per pair for men and £150 (€174-$196) for women.
