For the first time in 10 years no hurricane hit the USA during the 3rd quarter, and while this is a good thing for residents of the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, it was bad news for Coleman, the outdoor segment of Jarden Corp. In the 3-month period ended Sept. 30, the company’s revenues decreased by 3 percent to $208.4 million. Operating earnings dropped by 11 percent to $12.8 million, and were hurt by $900,000 in restructuring charges – as compared to $300,000 a year ago – as well as a lack of storm-related sales. In the year-ago period Coleman had pulled in $12 million in hurricane-related sales.
