Arc’teryx has appointed Ovidio Garcia as vice president of footwear, effective immediately. He will be reporting directly to Katie Becker, Arc’teryx’ chief creative officer. Garcia brings 15 years of experience at Nike in product management, merchandising and product operations for footwear on a global scale, most recently as global footwear product operations director. Prior to Nike, he held various positions in sports-related industries. He is also a two-time Olympian in alpine skiing. The Canadian brand, which is still under the Amer Sports umbrella, introduced its first footwear line in 2014 under the leadership of Federico Sbrissa, its first footwear product line manager, who left the company in 2016, followed by a former Salomon manager, Pete Cameron. Arc’teryx has since expanded its footwear range from approach and hiking footwear to include ski touring boots. Sbrissa subsequently joined the Tecnica Group to develop its new range of outdoor boots, but then left one year ago to join his former boss, Antonio Dus, at Cicli Pinarello. Cameron rejoined Salomon as category manager for outdoor and forces footwear, bags and packs
