A NewCo will likely be formed to run the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Women’s Championship in English women’s football, and Nikki Doucet has been appointed by The Football Association (The FA) as a consultant to explore this plan, the Telegraph has revealed.

The WSL, established in 2010, and the Women’s Championship, established in 2014, are respectively the highest and second-highest divisions of women’s football in England. According to the newspaper, which refers to multiple sources, Doucet is a leading contender for the CEO position at the future standalone entity, which will run the WSL and Championship in the medium term while pursuing investment. An appointment is likely to be made within the next few weeks.

From 2018 to 2021, Doucet served as the general manager of NikeWomen, based in London. Also at Nike, where she spent a total of eight years, she served as the finance and strategy director for NikeWomen in North America, as well as marketing and planning director for the U.K. and Ireland. She started her career in investment banking in Toronto and held senior roles at banks, including Credit Suisse and Citigroup.
