Samuel Ducroquet is the new French Ambassador for Sport, a diplomatic position within the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He takes over from Laurence Fischer, who had been in place since 2019. The role of ambassador for sport was created by Laurent Fabius, at the time Minister of Foreign Affairs, in October 2013.
The ambassador for sport supports the Ministry’s work in promoting the French positions on major sport-related issues, including governance, ethics, and the fight against doping, match-fixing and discrimination in sports. This action is performed within international sports bodies as well as the international forums where these themes are addressed, like the UN, UNESCO, European Union, Council of Europe, and OECD. Ducroquet previously worked at the French embassies in Qatar and Japan. Since January 2022, he has been working at the international relations department of the Paris 2024 organizing committee.
