Friedrichshafen, whose trade fair center finally got the assignment to run the OutDoor show through 2013 in spite of its well-known logistical difficulties, is working hard on improving flight connections to and from the town.

New direct flights to and from Friedrichshafen (airport code FDH) are being provided from this year by Intersky, the Austrian company in nearby Bregenz (www.intersky.biz), with direct connections to Münster/Westphalia (MFO, not on Wednesdays and Saturdays), Paris/Charles de Gaulle (CDG, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), Split/Croatia (SPU) and Bastia/Corsica (BIA, both on Saturdays only).

Friedrichshafen is also served by low-cost carriers like the Irish Ryanair (www.ryanair.com), which offers direct flights from Dublin (DUB, only on Thursdays and Saturdays), London-Stansted (STN, every day) and Liverpool (LPL, Saturdays only). Low-cost flights are also provided by Iceland Express, which connects Friedrichshafen with Keflavík, the international airport of Iceland’s capital Reykjavík (www.icelandexpress.com).

Other trade visitors to the OutDoor show, especially from overseas, are still connected with stop-overs in the big airports in Frankfurt (FRA) and Zürich-Kloten (ZRH, which has a shuttle bus to the Friedrichshafen venue). Another shuttle bus to the show is provided to and from one of Germany’s newest airports, not too far from Friedrichshafen: the Memmingen airport connects the show with Valencia, the island of Crete, Thessaloniki, the Canary and Balear islands, Rome (Fiumicino), Naples, Cologne-Bonn, Hamburg, Berlin and Antalya in Turkey (www.tuifly.com).
