Fundango, the Hungarian outdoor clothing brand, has embarked on a series of distribution deals and store openings to pump up its international sales, which are beginning to make a solid contribution to a turnover expected to reach roughly €10 million this year. The brand belongs to Marosport, a leading Hungarian wholesaler and retailer specialized in sports. The company distributes important foreign brands such as Atomic, Columbia Sportswear and Quiksilver. It also has 8 multi-brand stores in Hungary, called Dockyard Islands, with plans to open at least 3 more annually over the next few years.

Over the last months, Marosport has opened two Dockyard Islands stores in Romania, and sealed a distribution deal for that brand with Arena Romania, Adidas’ former distributors in the country. Arena Romania lost this deal when Adidas decided to have Romania and Bulgaria covered by its Turkish sales office. Arena still has five stores of its own in Romania, including a single-brand Adidas store.

At the same time, Marosport has begun to sell Fundango in Slovenia through Mercator, the Intersport licensee in the country. It has also entered the Austrian and Finnish markets, and it has started talks with potential distributors and retailers in Sweden and other countries. However, for the moment the bulk of Fandango’s foreign sales are in the Balkans.
