Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, the new holding company formed last year from the merger of the Galeria Kaufhof and Karstadt department stores, aims to cooperate more closely with Amazon and Zalando in the future. Galeria Kaufhof has already been cooperating with Amazon since 2017. A new service will be launched in June whereby customers of Amazon can pick up the products they ordered via click & collect inside the service centers of Galeria Kaufhof's department stores. Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof also aims to connect the inventories of its stores and warehouses with Zalando's internet marketplace. It will be possible to process orders placed by Zalando's clients directly at selected Galeria Kaufhof stores. Both projects will start with some selected pilot stores and expand to more locations in the future. These projects are expected to increase customer traffic in Galeria Kaufhof's stores. No mention has been made at this stage of Karstadt's department stores or the Karstadt Sports chain. Like the Galeria Kaufhof department stores, they are also controlled by the Signa Retail group, along with Tennis Point and various other specialized sports web stores.
