American clothing and fashion sportswear brand Gant is celebrating its heritage with a traveling archive exhibition, starting in New York. It will highlight the history of one of America’s first sportswear brands, exploring its contribution to the fashion industry and showcasing some iconic pieces from 1949 to the present day. The archive exhibition will be the first event in the brand’s new experiential studio space, The Gant Studio New York.
“Even if you don’t explicitly endorse prep or Ivy, you’ll appreciate the myriad elements of modern menswear unmistakably shaped by Gant,” said curators Lawrence Schlossman and James Harris of fashion industry experts Throwing Fits.
The exhibition will move on to London, curated by Samuel Trotman (Samutaro), and Paris, curated by Manuel Schenck, later in the spring. Dates and locations will be announced closer to the launch.
