Garmin has acquired its Spanish distributor, Electronica Trepat, retaining its management and staff. The American supplier of GPS equipment previously took over its distributors in France and Germany. In the 2nd quarter, Garmin reached total sales of $742 million, up 72 percent from the level of one year ago, but sales in the outdoor/fitness sector increased by only 9 percent to $77 million, partly through the introduction of new products. Revenue growth in this segment is expected to be lower than previously anticipated due to the timing of new product introductions, the company says.
