Geox has announced the formal launch of its new range of golf shoes, which has gone a little better than expected according to company officials, who declined to provide the number of pairs for the first season. The line is slightly lower-priced than that of Ecco.
Coordinated by Per Aagren, who was formerly in charge of Ecco’s golf shoe program, the Italian shoe company has given its new breathable and waterproof range a presence in about 500 stores in 68 countries.
Sales are handled directly by Geox’ own sales offices in the U.S., Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but using specialized golf agents. In the U.S. alone, which should become the biggest market for the line, 25 independent golf agents have been recruited for the national launch.
In the other countries, Geox uses independent distributors and agents. Geox has found it convenient to team up with agents and distributors who also handle Srixon's golf balls and other products in Spain, Sweden, belgium, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. In Italy, Geox golf shoes are being sold by DKB, a new Italian company that has developed an interesting range of golf apparel.
Distributors have also been recruited in distant markets such as Singapore and Korea. The U.K. is one important market where Geox shoes don’t yet have a presence, but the company wants to do things right there, planning a launch in the next year.
