Gerald Evans, a 30-year veteran of Hanesbrands who is currently its chief operating officer, will replace Rich Noll, chief executive and executive chairman, on Oct. 1. Among other recent feats, Evans spearheaded the company's development of a low-cost global supply chain and some of its recent acquisitions. Champion Europe was one of them. Noll, who is now 59 years old, took the company from $4 billion to $6 billion in annual sales during the 11 years under his leadership, leading to a fivefold increase in its share value.
