Giant Manufacturing Company is starting construction on a new factory in Suzhou province in China to make bicycle frames and front forks, as well as assemble bikes. The company announced that it is investing $15 million in the factory, which will span over 500 acres. This is Giant’s sixth factory in China. It is also adding a new production line to its facility in Tianjin, which will boost production there by 30,000 bikes to a total of a million in 2010. This, plus the new Suzhou factory, will give it capacity of 5 million bikes this year, up from 4.2 million.
