Canadian sportswear brand Gildan Activewear has appointed a new President and CEO, Vince Tyra. He will take up the role on Feb. 12, 2024, replacing co-founder Glenn Chamandy, who has worked for Montréal-based Gildan for 40 years, 20 of them as CEO. “Over the span of his 40-year career, Glenn has been a forerunner in our industry, taking Gildan from a small family-owned business to a leading apparel company with over US$3 billion in revenues,” commented Donald C. Berg, Chairman of the Board.
Tyra, a former Fruit of the Loom and Broder Bros. executive, most recently served as SVP of Corporate Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions at Houchens Industries, a company with interests in the construction, manufacturing, retail, healthcare and insurance industries.
Craig A. Leavitt, a director of the company since 2018, will serve as Interim President and CEO until Tyra assumes his new position.
