Parent company Hermione People & Brands has confirmed in a short statement that its French sports retail chain subsidiary Go Sport will acquire the master franchise for Gap in France. French investigative online newspaper Mediapart originally unveiled the information on Jan. 10. According to Mediapart, Go Sport and Gap France will be merged and then sold. However, this was not mentioned in the company’s statement. Meanwhile, the Grenoble Commercial Court is expected to rule on the possible insolvency of Go Sport in just a few days, on Jan. 16. As SGI Europe has previously reported, a decision by the Court was first expected on Dec. 21 but was then postponed. Go Sport was targeted by the judiciary after auditors failed to confirm its financial results on Dec. 13. The retail chain was even at risk of being placed under judicial supervision. Patrick Puy was recently appointed as Go Sport’s new general manager, effective Jan. 4.
