Golf USA, an American chain of golf stores has been denied by a European court to register the “Golf USA” name for all the 27 European Union member states. The U.S. company has more than 100 franchises in 32 U.S. states and in 10 other countries - Belgium, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Canada, Chile, South Korea and Mexico. The EU’s office for Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM) said that the name was too generic.
