Golfmässan, the golf trade fair held in Sweden straight after Golf Europe, saw the number of its visitors drop by about 12 percent to 1,274 for the three days – a decline that was blamed on the sluggishness of the Swedish economy and its golf market. Organized by the SGLF, the Swedish golf suppliers’ association, the fair in Jönköping is recognized for its outstanding quality, and it again drew nearly all of the leading players in the market. The SGLF counted that visitors represented 443 companies, compared with 453 last year, indicating that some of the retailers had sent few employees to the show. In contrast with Golf Europe, Golfmässan remains a very Swedish affair, with only 29 visitors coming from other countries this year: 11 from Finland, two from Norway, two from Denmark, two from Turkey, three from the U.K., three from China and one from Italy, but also five from the Netherlands.
