Günter Althaus, the 51-year-old German executive who has been the chief executive of the ANWR Group for the past ten years, has informed the board of directors that he will not renew his contract after it expires at the beginning of 2021, as he is envisaging new professional challenges. ANWR is the largest retail organization in Europe for independent retailers in the sporting goods and footwear sectors. It is notably the parent of Sport 2000 in the German, Swiss, Dutch and Belgian markets. The group, which has just celebrated its 100th anniversary, has successfully diversified its operations, expanded internationally and introduced new digital tools under Althaus' management. The board will soon study the process to find his successor.
