Han-Bo Shim, vice president and managing director for TaylorMade in South Korea, has been appointed to the same position at Columbia Sportswear. The outdoor company said earlier this month that it was under pressure from bloated inventories in the crowded South Korean market, and that it was replacing its local management. The inventory glut particularly affected sales of the Mountain Hardwear brand in the first quarter. Han-Bo Shim is to start at Columbia on May 18, to establish and execute sales, distribution and marketing strategies for the group's active brands. Prior to his ten-year assignment at TaylorMade, he served as chief financial officer for Adidas in Korea. He takes over from HR Cho, who has been in charge for about three years.
