HanesBrands Inc. has disclosed substantial progress towards its sustainability objectives in the 2023 Sustainability Summary Report. The report underscores the strides made across its brands like Hanes, Champion, Bonds, Maidenform, and Bali, underlining commitments to People, Planet, and Product. The company achieved noteworthy milestones in 2023, securing approval on its near-term science-based targets from the Science Based Targets initiative. Notably, HanesBrands has slashed absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 53 percent since 2019 and reduced Scope 1 and 2 intensity by 41 percent. Additionally, strides in water use and packaging weight reductions mark the company’s sustainability efforts. With aims to achieve zero waste by 2025 and transition to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030, HanesBrands is advancing on multiple fronts.

CEO Steve Bratspies commended the dedicated efforts of associates, emphasizing the alignment of sustainability with consumer expectations. HanesBrands further revealed its inclusion in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly program, showcasing select products certified by GreenCircle for reduced emissions and renewable energy usage. Under its sustainability framework, HanesBrands has significantly impacted lives globally, with philanthropic initiatives and community programs touching 3.4 million lives since 2021. Notable progress includes the Green for Good program’s provision of medical services and life-changing surgeries.
