Hans-Hermann Deters has informed the supervisory board of Ara Shoes that he will not extend his contract as executive board member in charge of sales and marketing after it expires on July 31, 2014. Deters, who joined Ara three years ago after serving as the top manager for Reebok International in Central Europe and as chief executive of Kettler, plans to take a short sabbatical before accepting new responsibilities in the footwear or sporting goods sectors. He would not comment on speculation that his departure was triggered by new family feuds after those that led to the resignation of a former chief executive, Tobias Zimmerer, in 2012. The other two members of Ara's executive board, Maximilian Müller and Thomas Schmies, will take over Deters' responsibilities until a successor is found. Müller, who became the CEO at the beginning of 2013, gave Deters credit for actions that will have positive consequences in the next years and that will be continued. The company says the outlook for this year is cautiously positive.
