Hanwag, the German-based footwear subsidiary of the Swedish Fenix Outdoor group (Fjällräven, Primus, Tierra), is changing its distribution in Hungary. Its new sales agent is Zsolt Beszédes (Budapest), former store manager of Hegyisport, which acted simultaneously as Hanwag’s magyar distributor for the last 12 years. Founded in 1991, the Hungarian retailer/wholesaler sees itself as the first mountaineering store in the country, without any serious competition until 1997. Hegyisport was founded by Gábor Babcsán and Zsolt Nagy. While the former is still at the top of the company, the latter eventually founded Sandstone, an outdoor brand in apparel and footwear, and left Hegyisport in 1997. The 33-year-old Beszédes joined Hegyisport in 1996 and has since run its store in Ráday Street.
