Holmenkol is one of the casualties from the last bad winter season: A German court has opened bankruptcy proceedings against this company, specializing in ski wax and other maintenance products. Now in its 90th year, the company is considered to be the oldest ski wax company in the world. It has been controlled by two investors, Nanogate and Nanostart, each with a 50 percent stake. The team around Volker Viniol, the receiver, is working on a review of the existing stock and is trying to secure deliveries as usual. The ski wax business has become increasingly difficult. It led, for example, to the merger of Toko of Switzerland and Swix of Norway two years ago.
