Icebreaker, the specialty brand of apparel made of merino wool from New Zealand, has signed an agreement for its distribution in the Japanese market with Goldwin. This company markets its own brand of outdoor apparel under the same name and represents a wide range of Western brands such as The North Face, Helly Hansen, Ellesse, Speedo and Champion. Goldwin also operates its own retailing in Japan. The agreement with Goldwin effective with the fall/winter collection 2012-13 foresees, additionally, that the new Japanese partner will also help Icebreaker with the development of the appropriate sizing for the Asian markets. Also in Asia, after a trial period of a couple of months, Icebreaker has granted the exclusive distribution rights for Taiwan to Free Time Gears. This company represents a few brands such as Royal Robbins, Camelbak and Eagle Creek. Free Time Gears began to work with the New Zealand firm last spring and opened the first Icebreaker Touchlab store in Taipei in September.
