Ikea will be selling bicycles worldwide as from this August. Initially, the offering will be limited to a single unisex model called the Sladda, designed for urban riders. The model was created by Oskar Juhlin, Jan Puranen and Kristian Eke from a Swedish studio, Veryday Design. The Sladda will sell in Europe at a projected price of €499 for members of the Ikea Family loyalty program and €699 for non-members. The bike features a lightweight aluminum frame, coated with two layers of lacquer to protect against mud and scratches. It has adjustable handlebars and will be available with either 26- or 28-inch wheels, to suit users from 12 and older. It also has a “click system” that allows the user to attach a range of accessories such as a basket, a rack for panniers and more.
