In a bid to get more visibility in the U.S. market, Adidas is reportedly on the verge of taking over the sponsorship of the New York Marathon from Asics, outbidding New Balance and Brooks with an offer for $100 million over a 10-year period. The Three Stripes has also reportedly made a $200 million offer to James Harden for a massive 13-year sponsorship deal. The contract of the NBA player with Nike has just ended without an extension and Nike has only a few days to match Adidas' proposal. Harden, 25, plays with the Houston Rockets and has won the title for scoring in the past season. Besides his sporting achievements, he is known off-court for his flair and his famous beard, which significantly contribute to make him a marketable star.
