In an effort to streamline its European organization, Hi-Tec Sports has removed three country managers over the last few months, leaving subsidiaries to be run by sales and marketing managers. Arthur Beerendonk, chief executive of Hi-Tec Benelux, left the company in February. Bernd Klink, who headed the German operation and supervised distribution in Austria and Switzerland, left under more acrimonious conditions at the end of May. He has teamed up with his brother to take on the distribution of Craghoppers. The third departee is Dennis Dotto, former head of the Italian subsidiary, which is being closed down. Italian distribution is being taken over by Sports Trade, distributor of Rockport and Haglöfs. The eight people who were employed by the subsidiary will all be looking for employment elsewhere, but Sports Trade is taking over some of the former Hi-Tec agents. To complete the reorganization, Hi-Tec has just recruited a European sales manager whose name has not yet been revealed.
